CrossOver Pro — for FREE
If you, like me, have been itching for a chance to try out CrossOver — that fabulous software that allows you to run Windows programs on you Mac, without all that messy Windows stuff — then today is your lucky day. If you just want to go get that free software, you better hurry. The serials are only being handed out today. Go to codeweavers.com and give them your email and you will get a serial number for one of their CrossOver Pro products (either for Mac or Linux). The site is really getting hammered so be patient and keep hitting that refresh button.
For those that are wondering to what do we owe this gift, the answer is President Bush. No, Codeweavers is not a bunch of Bush fanboys, nor are they a front for a vast right-wing conspiracy. The truth is that the CEO made a public pledge to show, in his words, just what a lame-duck president Bush was. He gave five goals for Bush to accomplish during his last year of office. If he managed to complete any one goal on the list, Codeweavers would give out free copies of their software for one day.
Well, as luck would have it, one of those goals was to bring gas down by $1 from the date of the challenge. At the time gas was $3.79 per gallon, so we needed the price to be $2.79. Thanks to the falling gas prices (and yes, I realize the “thanks” is a bit dubious since one of the reasons gas prices are falling is due to a global economic downturn) we now get a fully licensed copy of CrossOver Pro for free. I’ve got my serial already, now I just need to get the software and register it when I get home to my Mac tonight.
