Why Windows, Why?

Is there a reason that Windows has to be so craptacular? I really don’t understand the logic behind the way it does some things. Just a moment ago I was trying to clear off my desktop here at work. There I was, merrily Control clicking away at the files I wanted deleted when Windows decided it would rear its ugly head.

All I did was accidentally drag the icon I clicked on by two pixels. This caused Windows to create a copy of every icon I had selected up to that point. “Fine,” I thought. “I’ll go and add them to the batch I planned to delete.” Then it happened again.

Then I decided I would drag a box around the new crop and then star back on the hunt and peck for the rest. But deleting those caused them to all open, but since they were deleted now all I got was about 82 dialog boxes. Sigh.

If you are going to use Ctrl+Drag to create a copy you should make sure that it doesn’t activate inside of a 2 pixewl window. Even a ten pixel window might be too big. I think you need to make it activate after you drag it off the current icon completely. Just one more item for list of things that irk me about Windows.
