Project Info:

This was a letterhead graphic that I designed for some documents. They wanted something more than the typical logo and contact info for these documents. I had the idea to have the drill pipe — since that is what the company makes — incorporated in the image and needed to find the right images for that.

Since I would never be able to get the set-up I would need for a photograph, I decided to create one in 3D software. Using the company’s 3D models form their CAD files I imported them into Blender (no budget for another 3D package) and arranged the scene. I applied the textures and set the lighting and then exported the final render.

The final composition was done in Adobe InDesign. Very happy with how the render came out, and how the final composition came together.
